'Grinnall' (our other brand) is proud to announce the launch of the latest Limited Edition 'Midwest Indian 3' three-wheeled motorcycle. Three years in development, this innovative trike is aimed at customers who want a safe and easy-to-ride biker experience.
The Midwest Indian 3 offers low seat-height, light weight and ample storage room within the bodywork for long distance touring. Optional rider and passenger back-rests, and 'bat-wing' handle-bar fairing, or clear screen, provide luxury motorcycling comfort with maximum safety.
Based on the highly successful Indian Scout 1200, the Grinnall ‘Midwest Indian 3’ departs from our usual steel rear space frame and now uses a unique CNC billet sub-frame crafted from 6082 aluminium alloy. This bolts onto the rear of the brilliant Indian multi-piece cast alloy chassis, providing a super strong and dimensionally precise structure.
Grinnall’s trade-mark, fully independent double-wishbone rear suspension now incorporates a unique anti-roll bar system and billet alloy uprights. Sure-footed handling is assured. Also new for our Indian conversion is a custom manufactured, belt-driven final drive that incorporates a differential and mechanical reverse. This high-quality solution to the age-old problem of 'reverse gear on a motorcycle', is produced for us in Germany, enabling engine driven direct transmission.
New billet alloy steering yokes (triple-tree) manufactured in 6082 aluminium alloy provide revised rake and trail and therefore lighter steering, with an optional steering damper. Designed by Steve Everit, the stylish, all-new body-work incorporates a huge 50-litre, waterproof storage space that is accessed through a lift-up cover. All made in high-quality GRP, the durable body panels can be painted any colour in 2-pack paint. There is an optional, traditional steel luggage carrier, either mounted on the boot lid (trunk) or body mounted. This is not an option if carrying a passenger. The bespoke passenger seat is moulded in high-density foam, designed to provide firm support for long distance touring. There is also an optional wrap-round pillion back rest. 205/60/15 (optional 16in) tyres at the rear are covered in original Indian Scout-styled highly durable GRP mudguards. All round disc brakes provide reassuring feel and stopping power. As with all Indians, Grinnall offers a two-year warranty cover for in-house built conversions. The conversion is also available for a used donor bike for self-builders.
Orders for this ground-breaking new Grinnall trike are now being accepted, with a Limited Edition 20-off run, to celebrate 2020 being 20 years of Trike Production by Grinnall. Each trike will be individually numbered and issued with a Certificate of Authenticity. Deliveries commence April/May 2020.
