Cheif Bobber - Midwest Moto

Chief Bobber

Dating back to the 1920's, 'Bob-Job' bikes started becoming popular in the US as owners tried to improve the performance of their early American heavyweight Harleys and Indians by shedding excess weight and fitting smaller fuel tanks. After WW2, interest in 'Bobbers' grew due to post war shortages of new motorcycles. The motorcycle equivalent of hot rods, custom bobbers sported metal flake paint, custom chrome plating and single 'floating' seat. Since 2010 there has again been growing interest in this style of motorcycle with main-stream manufacturers producing the likes of the Indian Scout, the Triumph Bobber and now the BMW R1800 Bobber.

Since 2010 there has again been growing interest in this style of motorcycle with main-stream manufacturers producing the likes of the Indian Scout, the Triumph Bobber and now the BMW R1800 Bobber.

The resurgence in 'Bobber' motorcycle style prompted Midwest Moto to take a new Indian heavy-weight motorcycle, trim off around 50Kgs of excess metal, and create the lean-and-mean 'Midwest Chief Bobber' - 1920's and 30's style reincarnated.

Combining reduced weight and enhanced performance using a new exhaust system and remapping, Midwest have created a fast and luxurious minimal Bobber that stands out from the crowd. As prices of used Indian Chief motorcycles fall, this simple alteration allows the owner to build a bespoke individual machine with enhanced appeal and value.

The bike uses hand-rolled steel mudguards, special fender mountings, modified yokes (triple tree), a handmade seat with moulded foam, high quality custom mirrors, indicators, rear and head lights by Rizoma, Kellermann, & Hi-Sider, optional wire-spoked wheels and white walled tyres, and a high-quality 2-pack paint job. Custom airbrushing is a further option.

This stylish upgrade is available on any new or used Indian Chief motorcycle with a tank-mounted speedometer, eg. Chief Classic, Springfield, Chief Vintage and Darkhorse.
